IRS Form W-2 is used to report wage and salary information for employees earning wages. For example, those with one or more employees use this form to report wages and salaries with income tax withheld.
When You Need to File W-2
- If you made cash or noncash payments to one or more of your employees
- There are limited situations in which you do NOT need to file this form
Form W-2 Deadlines For 2020
W-2’s must be transmitted to the IRS before the deadline.
The due dates for Form W-2:
- Recipient copy > January 31
- IRS Paper Filing > January 31
- IRS eFile > January 31
If the due date falls on a weekend or holiday, it will be due the next business day.
